Mardi Gras Decor Ideas

Mardi Gras Decor IdeasThe Carnival season is about to kick into high gear and that means you will host Carnival and Mardi Gras parties. If you happen to live close to any of the parade routes, there will be plenty of gatherings with friends and family. Sometimes, they will just show up to see the parades, and you won’t have any time to prepare. Here are a few quick decor ideas that can turn your kitchen into Mardi Gras central in just a few minutes.

Did you keep your masks from previous years? If you have a bunch, you could simply string them together to make a garland.

If you have the time, you could also make a couple of Mardi Gras wreaths. Just cut out the centers of a couple of plastic plates, wrap some satin ribbon and then  green, yellow and purple beads around the  outer ring that is left. Then, just add some old masks or feathers and you are done. This is a great project you can do together with your kids.

Admit it, every year you keep some of your favorite beads or signature throws full well knowing you probably won’t ever use them again. Well, here is your chance: get out those treasures from past Mardi Gras and hang beads on lamps, or just place a whole bunch of them in the middle of your table as a centerpiece. It does not matter if they are all tangled up! If you still have some of the throws, like glittery cups, a Muses shoe, or a Nix purse, now is the time to use those items either as center pieces, or as decorations around the kitchen.

If you still have your Christmas tree up, then simply take down the holiday ornaments and re-decorate it with your Mardi Gras beads and colors. This will certainly give your home the perfect carnival feel.

Aren’t you glad you collected all those Mardi Gras cups from different Krewes? Since they are made out of plastic they won’t break and if some of your guests use them as to-co cups, no big deal, you will get plenty more this year! You know the Mardi Gras colors:  so get yellow, green and purple napkins right now. You know you will use them and they will help keep the mess down so some extend.
