Carr Stone & Tile: Slate Courtyard At The New Orleans Athletic Club

Slate Here is a look at some of our recent work at the New Orleans Athletic Club. We used slate in different shades for this courtyard. The different colors give the courtyard a rugged, yet sophisticated look, complimenting the exposed and partially exposed brick walls of the outdoor space. The courtyard is now used for weddings and other private parties at the New Orleans Athletic Club.

Slate and quartzite are both metamorphic rocks; slate is made from shale, while quartzite is made from sandstone. Even though they are not exactly the same material, they are commonly grouped together by the stone industry. Quartzite is quarried and then cut into slabs to be used for applications like countertops, flooring, wall coverings, vanity tops and stair steps.
